Mahoney Transitional Living, recently renovated for use as a homeless shelter and transitional living facility for youth ages 14 to 24, housed a decades old heating and air conditioning system in desperate need of replacement. With budget cuts imminent, and Homeless Youth Services targeted for complete elimination in Governor Rauner’s fiscal year 2016 budget, Family Counseling Center, Inc. had to look elsewhere for funding to cover the expense.

Ameren Illinois, operating and providing safe and reliable energy to homes throughout Southern Illinois, provided this much needed funding in the sum of $4,000.00.

In congruence with the mission of Family Counseling Center, Inc., it is the goal of Ameren Illinois to improve the quality of life in the community in which they serve. As stated by Eric Kozak, Director Divison VI, Ameren Illinois:

“Ameren Illinois employees not only work in communities throughout Illinois, we live in them too. We are proud to invest in organizations like the Family Counseling Center, Inc. that make our communities better places to call home. In partnering with the Family Counseling Center, Inc. we have the opportunity to support their efforts to provide stable, safe, comfortable homes for our youth, making our communities better places to live.”

In addition to receiving funds from Ameren Illinois, Family Counseling Center, Inc. has partnered with local HVAC company Fowler Heating and Cooling of Marion, IL and their supplier Daikin North America, LLC to have the units and remaining cost of labor, after utilization of the grant monies, donated to allow for a complete replacement of the antiquated equipment and ductwork. Fowler Heating & Cooling installed the new energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems provided by Daikin North America, LLC at Mahoney Transitional Living on April 20th.

Family Counseling Center, Inc. would like to extend their thanks to Ameren Illinois, who in collaboration with Fowler Heating and Cooling and Daikin North America, LLC, has made it possible for Family Counseling Center, Inc. to continue to provide a comfortable and safe living environment for homeless and displaced youth in Southern Illinois.
